The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in supporting parks and recreation, to focus public attention on recreation services, park facilities and needs, and to stimulate gifts and fundraising. The Friend's Group will begin operating for charitable, educational and benevolent purposes. The group would take on the extra projects that the Parks & Recreation Department cannot fulfill on its own. We understand you have a busy schedule, but with this group, you are able to help as much or as little as your time allows.
Who can be a part of this Friends Group?
The group would be comprised of adult supporters of the Village of Sussex’s Parks and Recreation. Specifically, we are looking for those that have an interest in the Village of Sussex’s Village Park Master Plan; as well as, future projects. The Village’s Park and Recreation Director will work with the group as an advisor. This group is a separate entity from the Village, but synergy with the Village will be essential to ensure a shared vision of the goals and mission. A wide variety of talents is beneficial to the success of a Friends Group, and strong leadership as well.
What is the time commitment?
This group will allow members to be as involved as they would like to be. A board will need to be formed to have a core group of members that are committed to meet when needed to discuss events, projects and fundraising efforts. Other members will be able to participate on an as needed basis, when they are available.
What are the benefits of joining the Friends of Sussex Parks and Recreation?
As a Friends Group member, you can get hands-on experience with helping make Sussex an even better place to live. You will join others who cherish the parks and want to have a say in the future use for generations to come. Members will meet new people, participate in gathers/outings, make a difference in the community and be a part of important issues and decisions affecting the future of Sussex Parks and Recreation.
